Frequently Asked Questions

How long does new plaster take to dry before I can paint?

On average, new plaster takes between 3 to 5 days to dry completely, depending on the ventilation and temperature of the room. You will notice the colour change from a dark brown to a uniform light pink. It is essential to wait until it is fully dry and apply a “mist coat” (watered-down paint) before your final topcoat.

Yes, this is one of our most requested services. As long as the Artex is secure and in good condition, we can flatten it and apply a fresh skim coat to give you a modern, smooth ceiling. If the Artex is very thick or contains asbestos (common in older homes), we can over-board it with new plasterboard before skimming.

While we prefer the room to be as empty as possible to ensure we can work efficiently, we can work around large items. We use heavy-duty dust sheets and floor protection to ensure your belongings stay clean and safe throughout the plastering process.

Persistent cracks are often caused by structural movement. We don’t just fill these; we use reinforcing tape (scrim tape) across the crack before plastering to provide extra strength and prevent the crack from returning through the new surface.
